A new gel has been developed by the University of Birmingham to help people against dry eye disease. The designers of this product have said the fluid material flows like a liquid and self-structures into a thin, clear, protective layer over the surface of the eye, which is steadily dissolved and cleared away by blinking for two to eight hours,
Healome Therapeutics Ltd have said it will work to make the gel available to the public, initially with a long-term objective to partner with other healthcare companies to create alternative therapeutics for dry eye disease.
